Showcase Recital Audition
PURPOSE:
To showcase budding pianists and other instrumentalists who excel in performance
ELIGIBILITY:
Minimum age of 10 through high school, whose teachers are members of SMEA in good standing. Age requirement will be waived if student is at least capable of any Bach 2-part Invention excluding #1 and #8.
Maximum of 5 entrants per teacher. Solo is one entrant, a duet team constitute 2 entrants.
REPERTOIRE:
Solo entrants must perform from memory 2 compositions from 2 different music periods, or 2 contrasting compositions by the same composer, demonstrating musical proficiency and performance skills.
Ensemble entrants must perform 1 composition, memorization optional.
No arrangements/transcriptions/simplified versions are permitted.
ADJUDICATION:
By a team 2 judges; all decisions final
AWARDS:
Each entrant will receive written evaluations and a certificate of participation.
Winners will perform in a Showcase Award Recital and receive personalized engraved plaques.
Performance and attendance during the entirety of the recital, including award presentation ceremony, are required to receive award*. No make-up performance.

FEE:
$35 per solo; $45 per ensemble
